I am Phunuru Sherpa, a professional trekking guide and Himalayan interpreter based in Nepal. Born and raised in Lukla, the gateway to Mount Everest, I grew up surrounded by the magnificent Himalayas, Sherpa culture, and the traditions of mountain life. My connection with the mountains goes beyond my profession – they are my home, my heritage, and my lifelong passion.
With more than 15 years of experience in Nepal’s trekking and mountain tourism industry, I have built my career around exploring the Himalayas and sharing their natural beauty, cultural richness, and unique traditions with travelers from around the world.
Since 2018, I have been professionally associated with Highland Expedition Pvt. Ltd., Kathmandu, Nepal, where I have had the opportunity to lead and guide numerous international trekking groups across some of Nepal’s most spectacular mountain destinations. Alongside my work with the company, I also work independently as a freelance trekking guide, collaborating with different travel companies, organizations, and private travelers to create personalized Himalayan adventures.

The Himalayas have shaped who I am. Growing up in Lukla gave me a unique opportunity to understand mountain life from an early age. Today, I feel proud to introduce visitors to the landscapes, cultures, hidden trails, and welcoming communities of Nepal.
My goal is to take you beyond an ordinary trekking experience – to connect you with the mountains, local people, authentic Himalayan traditions, and the true spirit of Nepal.
